Holds Annual Confab in Nashville; Names Coleman as Chairman
NATE asked its members to pledge to recommit to the principles of “safety first and safety always” as a part of the association’s “It’s Up To You” safety campaign – “100% Tie Off.” To commemorate the event, NATE members signed a pledge-printed lanyard and clamped it to the 6-foot base of a tower, demonstrating their continued dedication to the association’s mission.
“NATE sees this conference as the best time to reach everyone in the industry and discuss importance of safety to our members,” said Patrick Howey, executive director of NATE. “We must continue to discuss the issue of safety to ensure everyone in the industry makes it home safe at the end of the day.”
The association’s board of directors named Jim Coleman, Southern Broadcast Services, as its chairman. NATE’s other officers are Pat Cipov of Cipov Enterprises as vice chairman, and Kari Carlson of Tower Systems as secretary/treasurer. Other board members are Ron Romano, Installation Services; Kevin Reski, Great Plains Towers; and Kevin Hayden, Hayden Tower Service.
Educational sessions at the gathering included an OSHA 10-hour training course, “Protecting Climbers From Falls,” “RF safety: it’s a Game You can Win,” “Guy Anchor Galvanic Corrosion: Causes, Risk Evaluation, Detection, Prevention” and “Radio Frequency Personal Protective Equipment Use and Training.”
